Wow! What another great week of the challenge! As you can see by the lists below, the large weight-loss is starting to taper off, but that is typical for this stage of the challenge. Because of this, this is the point of the challenge where people (myself included) start to get frustrated because we are working so hard and the scale is not moving like we want it to. I've just started listening the the book "Atomic Habits" by James Clear. I've just started listening, but I've already learned so much. Here are a couple of quotes that stuck out to me that would be pertinent to what we are doing right now: "It is so easy to overestimate the importance of one defining moment and underestimate the value of making small improvements on a daily basis." "It doesn’t matter how successful or unsuccessful you are right now. What matters is whether your habits are putting you on the path toward success." Keep this in mind as we go through the last half of the challenge. We are doing great things, even if the scale isn't moving. As you are reviewing your goals this week and reminiscing on why you joined the challenge, be sure to celebrate the successes as well. We've got this! Next week when you report your points, you will also be re-taking your measurements and submitting measurement points in addition to your weight points. (Can you believe we are already half-way through the challenge?) I will send out a reminder email with instructions on Thursday. Have a wonderful week!! Here are the week 3 results: 5+ Club - Kristen Broadwater 2+ Club - Kari Smith, Melanee Bates, Melanie Bush, Andy Duncan, Luke Marley, Stephanie Watkins, Maria Luke, Tracie Simon Congratulations, Team Falcon!!

Wow! Another great week of weight-loss. We usually see big numbers during the first week, but look how many people are still losing more than 2lbs in week 2 - almost half of the challenge participants. So awesome! Keep up the good work! 5+ Club - Melanee Bates, Kayla Marley 2+ Club - Alayne Smith, Kim Minson, Kim Edvarchuk, David Janeway, Ross Teemant, Kari Smith, Melanie Bush, Esther Carlsen, Luke Marley, David Broadwater, Heather Nelson, Kristen Broadwater, Melissa Nelson, Stephanie Hawes Congratulations team Cobra!
Congratulations on completing your first week of the challenge! In some ways the first week of the challenge can be very difficult because you have to figure out all the rules and make changes. In other ways, it can be the easiest week because your motivation is high. So how did we do this week? As a group we lost a total of 102 pounds!!! That's almost a full person! It makes me so happy and excited. More important than the weight, I hope you are al starting to FEEL better! I know I am. I feel so much better when I'm living the challenge rules. I'm not sure why it's so hard to keep doing it when a challenge isn't going! Each week I will post the names of those of you who have lost 5 or more pounds in the 5+ club and those that have lost 2-5 lbs in the 2+ club. 5+ Club - Diana Christiansen, Kari Smith, Melanee Bates, Melanie Bush, Luke Marley, David Broadwater 2+ Club - Andy Bartholomew, Jennifer Penrod, Judy Cameron, Tracie Simon, Aleisha McConkie, Robin Merrill, Cindy Ellsworth, David Janeway, Ross Teemant, Vanessa Skinner, Esther Carlsen, Gina Duncan, Heather Nelson, Kristin Broadwater, Stephanie Watkins, Carolee Adams, Janelle Nuon, Mary Ann Hawes Each week I will also post a list of the team rankings for that week. They are not cumulative rankings. The team rankings are based on the average number of points teams earn each week. Here are the week 1 team results: Congratulations on a wonderful first week! Make sure you and your team have chosen a weekly challenge for this week from the weekly challenge tab. I look forward to seeing your results again next week.
Before I announce the final results, let me get some general business out of the way.
Now on to the results. Congratulations on a difficult but great 8 weeks!! I've never run a challenge during the holiday season, but I really enjoyed it. And I'm so impressed with all of your results! Even though some of us didn't do as well as we hoped, we ALL made progress. Progress is progress and we can all be proud of yourselves for fighting to the end. While there is a winner in this challenge, we are all winners when we make efforts to take care of ourselves. So even if you didn't meet your end goal, you are closer now than you were when we started and that's what really counts. Don't get down on yourself. Keep making your health a priority! As a group (38 people) we lost a total of 302 lbs and 310 inches!! (The same number of inches lost during the last challenge with 50 people) Wahoo!!! As stated in the rules the following people will earn part of the pot of money:
An email detailing your total winnings and refunds will be sent in the next couple of days. Once I have given a day or two for people to respond to any errors I may have made, I will send out the payments via Venmo. Here are the final results for this round of the Building Good Habits Wellness Challenge: Biggest weight loss percentage: Stephanie Watkins with 10.4% from Team Bear! Congratulations!! Melissa Nelson Michelle Greer Ryan Nelson Stephanie Watkins Congratulations on a wonderful challenge!! Hopefully I'll "see" you again in February. We did it! We made it through a wellness challenge during the holiday season!! I'm not going to say a whole lot here, because I know you really want to know the final results. So I'll end things here and get to work calculating the final results. :)
2+ Club - Andy Bartholomew, Jennifer Penrod, Angela Langford, Kari Smith, Mary Ann Hawes, Michelle Greer, Stephanie Watkins, We've made it to the last week of the challenge.....during the holiday season! We can do hard things. I don't really have anything profound to say this week, so I'll keep this short and just say keep working hard. Don't give up on yourself! Only one week left, so fight until the end.
I will send an email on Thursday for the final weigh in. 2+ Club - Andy Duncan, Kari Smith, Stephanie Hawes, Stephanie Watkins The weight loss is slow, but it's still weight-loss! This week I've been feeling grateful for the challenge, because it forces me to take care of myself during this busy season when it would be easy to just take care of everyone and everything else. It's not always convenient, but it's important to take care of ourselves. So even if the weight-loss is slow, we're taking care of ourselves. Keep up the fight!!
It's fun to see yet another new team in the first place spot. 2+ Club - Marlena Chow, Cody Langford Doing this challenge during the holidays is no joke! It's so hard some days, yet so fulfilling when you have an excuse more than just will power to pass up on all the treats. It doesn't really seem fair to have to weigh in on the day after the biggest feast of the year for many of us either. However, I know it made me more conscientious of how much I was eating on Thanksgiving day. As you can see by the weight-loss clubs this week most teams struggled with the post-Thanksgiving weigh in. However, many of you mentioned how happy you were that you didn't GAIN because of Thanksgiving even if you didn't lose. So Yay!! Many of you are graduating weight classes by the 10's (i.e. 160s to 150s). It feels good, doesn't it!?
Some of you have asked about another challenge in January. I would like to start another challenge in the new year, but it can't happen until February. I've got other commitments in January that won't allow me to facilitate a challenge during that time. So plan for February, and as your friends and family start wavering on their New Years health resolutions you can invite them to join us. Here are this week's results: 5+ Club - Jolene Martinez (5+ lbs during the week of Thanksgiving? That's AMAZING! Congratulations!) This round of the challenge is so great! It's so fun to see so many different teams in the first place position throughout the weeks. It's so close between all the teams! Keep going strong.
I LOVE the week four weigh-in because when we start getting frustrated with the scale, the tape measure helps us to see that all our hard work is paying off. As a group we've lost a total of 163 inches in only 4 weeks!!! At our half-way point, we've also lost a total of 192lbs. Go us! Even if we're not losing as much as we want, it's also good to remind ourselves that we're not gaining weight during this holiday season either. :) I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! It will be fun to see what weigh-in the day after Thanksgiving looks like. Here are this week's results: 2+ Club - Andy Bartholomew, Keith Carter, Angela Langford, Cody Langford, Ross Teemant, Melanee Bates, Seth Hawes, Melissa Nelson, Stephanie Watkins Oh my goodness! It seems like there's always one week during the course of a challenge that just gets so chaotic that I forget to do points on Sunday night. That was this week! So Sorry.
At this point of the challenge, it can get hard at times so during week 4 everyone should be working on the Week 4 Weekly Challenge. In this challenge it's a time to check in with your team and with yourself and remind yourself why you're doing this challenge....and especially during the holiday season. Doing this check-in will hopefully help us all to keep going strong through the back half of the challenge. Here are this week's results. It was another great week of living healthy. 2+ Club - Gina Duncan, Jennifer Penrod, Kimberly Minson, Keith Carter, Cody Langford, Kari Smith |
