If you Bite it, Write it!
This weeks challenge is another one I do each go 'round. We are going to write down everything we eat! Not only are we going to be writing down every thing we eat, but we are going to be calorie counters. Yep that's right we are going to keep track of how many calories we eat each day. It doesn't matter how you want to keep track of it whether it is online, on a smart phone or iPod.
1. The first reason I think this is important is because sometimes I don't think we are aware of how much or how little we are putting in our mouths. It is a simple procedure to help you understand your eating habits and target problem areas you may have. Be sure to be honest with yourself. :) Sometimes it's hard to write things down because we don't want to see them staring back at us. 2. Weight loss/gain is truly a result of calories in vs. calories out. Unless you have written down all your food intake before you may not realize just how many calories are in the things you are eating. There are so many free websites and apps you can use that will count your calories as you write your food down. Some even have the option to scan the bar code and it puts all the nutrition information in for you. Knowing what you put into your mouth is very important when trying to become healthier. It's amazing the difference it makes in my food choices when I write it down and count calories. Every day that you keep a food journal, you get 5 points for a total of 35 possible points this week. As I said earlier, there are tons of great online resources for health, fitness, and nutrition. I've listed the links to a few below. Please be wise with how you pursue weight loss. Slow and steady wins the race! Myfitnesspal.com Choose My Plate Calorie King If you have a smart phone or iPad touch there are a lot of free apps you can download as well. |
